Faraday Studios
A peek into the Lab facilities of Faraday Studios reveals 2,500 sq. ft. used for workshops, gatherings, recordings, and live broadcasts. The three floors have modular walls and include a chemistry station, wood workshop, laboratory station, and an informal observatory on the roof deck. The self-contained recording studio supports recording and live streaming sessions. Faraday’s collection of historical scientific artifacts can be viewed on videos shown in the attic.
International Workshops
The Faraday team has connected with international audiences through collaborative workshops and presentations in Japan, Saudi Arabia, UK and South Korea and has worked with international students from Mexico. Their hands-on approach encouraged students’ curiosity and enthusiasm for science through such presentations as “Living in Space” in the UK and is best summarized in Jake’s lecture in South Korea entitled “Lucky Accidents, Great Discoveries, and the Prepared Mind.”
Faraday Foundation House
Built in 1886 during Wichita’s boom years, this beautifully renovated Victorian-style structure houses the Faraday Foundation offices as well as an apartment for national and international visitors. The daughter of the original owner lived there until 1995 when the Victorian Society of Wichita purchased it and began renovations on many of the original features such as the nine fireplaces. The Foundation provided renovation funding and plans to expand Faraday’s campus in the near future.
Nano Aqueous Ozone
Faraday promotes new science projects that lack financing and public exposure but offer great potential for practical use. The process of ozone oxidation can provide an inexpensive, accessible solution to create sustainable, safe water. Ozone water is comprised of an extra oxygen molecule which creates oxidation and can be used as an effective, non-chemical disinfectant. The Nano Aqueous Ozone project promotes research and testing of its application including for monument restoration purposes such as marble stain removal at Arlington Cemetery.
